KEY: MRI and CT (to a lesser degree in most cases) can suggest histologic subtypes of cancers and benign lesions based on appearance on different phases of the examinations. The suggested exams in order to narrow the DDx are listed below.

  1. Bowel Tumors: Standard PV contrast exam
  2. Hepatic Tumors: Multiphase exams
  3. Renal Cancers: Mulitphase exams. Look for fat
  4. Adrenal Cancers: Look for fat. Non contrast, Post-contrast and Delay exam
  5. Pancreas: Either post contrast or arterial and PV phase exams
